Paul Stephenson

Paul Stephenson has worked in international relief and development for over 20 years, specializing in child development, education, child rights and community development. Paul has worked in Latin America; Africa and Asia with southern based NGOs and Tearfund UK. He coordinated education reform for indigenous groups, and disaster response following Hurricane Mitch in Honduras; managed community services for the most vulnerable groups in the refugee camps in Tanzania following the Rwandan genocide, and conducted participatory research with working children in India and South Asia.

Caroline Tangoren

Caroline Tangoren is a fourth year Global Affairs and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology major at Yale College. Caroline initially joined the ECPC team through the Yale Undergraduates for UNICEF club, and from 2015-17, assisted with the content creation of this global communications platform. Outside of her work with the ECPC, Caroline is also involved with Student Partnerships for Global Health and has worked on a variety of research projects ranging from food insecurity to cervical cancer in Latin America.

“The conflict between our communities had poisoned everything. School should have been the one place we could all belong… but even here, we were still divided. But somewhere along the way, something began to happen… “

Sara’s story illustrate the role that education can play to building peace in conflict-affected context. Filmed with the support of the Gombe and Mukenza Communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the film give an overview of the UNICEF Learning for Peace Program which has impacted the lives of over 2 million children and community members in West and Central Africa since 2012.

Discover the story of Jeanette, the 14-year old girl living in the Tanganyika province, DRC who performed Sara’s role in the video.

My name is Alejandro Díaz. I majored in (B.A.) Government Affairs and International Relations, and minored in Public Management, Economic Development and Finances. I am currently working at Saldarriaga Concha Foundation in the Healthy Life Office in projects related to Early Childhood, Healthy Life Habits and Active Aging of the population.
