Introduction

The promotion of evidence-based policies for advancing the positive development of young children everywhere, is essential if we are to turn the tides of violence, affecting our world today. Emerging scientific knowledge about early childhood development in both developed and developing countries bears on international programs and policies that affect young children and families, focusing on the whole child.
