Feminist analysis of maternity care recommends woman-partner-midwife teamwork

A feminist analysis of maternal healthcare from Sweden has recommended three-way teamwork between woman, partner and midwife. Midwives should inform, involve and support partners. They should inform both the woman and her partner comprehensively throughout the process and listen when the partner speaks on the woman’s behalf.

Groundbreaking Economist Intelligence Unit Benchmarking Tool Highlights the Responses of 40 Countries to Sexual Violence Against Children

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / January 15, 2019 / Today, the World Childhood Foundation USA (WCF) announced the findings of ‘Out of the Shadows: Shining light on the response to child sexual abuse and exploitation,' a 40-country benchmarking Index, representing 70% of the world's children, which was developed through a first-of-its-kind research program conducted by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) with support from the World Childhood Foundation, the Oak Foundation and the Carlson Family Foundation. The Index measures countries' responses to child sexual abuse and exploitation.

G20 Commits to Early Childhood Development

2018 has been a landmark year for early childhood development (ECD). In May, the world’s first framework for global ECD action and results, the Nurturing Care Framework for Early Childhood Development, was launched by the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank, and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health, at the World Health Assembly in Geneva. And last weekend, at the G20 summit in Argentina, twenty of the worlds’ leading economies agreed to a major new commitment to prioritising ECD, particularly in lower and middle income countries.
