About

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, millions of Ukrainians, in particular children, have been exposed to increased levels of stress, regardless of whether they remained in Ukraine or sought refuge in neighbouring countries.

Primary health workers and other professionals working with young Ukrainian children and caregivers are realising the increased need to better understand and deal with these mental health impacts. In many cases, they are not equipped to identify the signs of mental health distress in young children, offer psycho-social support and referral, as well as strengthen the resilience in children and caregivers. These should all be part of routine healthcare.

The webinar will explore how stress and adverse experiences affect early child development and how health care services are being transformed to become more sensitive to  signs of trauma, as well as support the building of resilience, emotional regulation and psychosocial healing in culturally appropriate ways.

The webinar will be presented in English with simultaneous interpretation in Polish, Ukrainian, and Bosnian-Croatian-Montenegrin-Serbian.
