Ghassan M. Issa MD is a Lebanese community pediatrician who graduated from the American University of Beirut Medical Center in 1980. He has been the General Coordinator of the Arab Network for Early Childhood (ANECD) since 2012, co-founder, and the General Coordinator of the Arab Resource Collective (ARC), established in 1989 for a better childhood, health for all, and community development.
He is a member of the Early Childhood Development Action Network (ECDAN) Executive Leadership board and steering committee, a Regional Advisor of the Early Childhood Peace Consortium (ECPC), and a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) East Mediterranean Regional Certification Commission of Poliomyelitis Eradication (EMRO-RCC); advisor for the development group of Improving Early Childhood Development guidelines, advisor for the Nurturing Care Framework (WHO-NCF), and the Senior Advisor of the National Strategy for Early Childhood Development for the Lebanese Higher Council of Childhood (HCC-Leb).
He served as a staff member of the Pediatrics Department of the Lebanese University Faculty of Medicine, a member of the Continuous Medical Education Committee of the Lebanese Syndicate of Physicians, the President of the International Developmental Pediatrics Association (IDPA), and the President of the 4th International Developmental Pediatrics Association conference (IDPAC4) in December 2021. He also served as a member of the Middle East and North Africa Health Policy Forum and as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee on Early Childhood Development of the International Pediatrics Association (IPA).
