About
On Thursday, 18 June, join us for the release of the Global Status Report on Preventing Violence Against Children 2020. This report, which is the first of its kind, will be launched by the World Health Organization and partners from 9 - 10:30 am New York time.
By analysing the experiences of 1,000 decision-makers from 155 countries, the report explores the progress countries have made toward ending violence against children through the lens of the INSPIRE Seven Strategies. It also includes a snapshot of countries’ progress toward global targets and provides the first-ever set of estimates for the numbers and rates of homicide among children under 18 years of age.
Speakers at the event include:
- Child activists from Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo;
- Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization;
- Henrietta Fore, Executive Director of UNICEF;
- H.E. Mrs María Juliana Ruiz Sandoval, the First Lady of Colombia; and
- Dr Howard Taylor, Executive Director of End Violence, among others.
Dr Etienne Krug, Director of the Department of Social Determinants of Health for the World Health Organization, will be moderating the launch event.
The launch will be hosted in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. Learn more about the event and access the full list of speakers.
