The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is pleased to announce the launch of the 3rd edition of the Oslo Forum Peacewriter Prize, an essay competition seeking innovative responses to today’s peacemaking challenges.
The contest
Mediating an end to armed conflict has become increasingly complex. To reach an agreement, peacemakers today have to navigate volatile contexts that require concerted efforts across multiple fronts. The Oslo Forum Peacewriter Prize offers an opportunity to address the challenges posed by this evolving landscape and seeks essays which explore creative strategies for mitigating conflict. Submissions should be practice-oriented and address a geographic or thematic issue relevant to peacemakers.
The winning entry will be published as part of the briefing material for the 2020 Oslo Forum, a pre-eminent retreat in the field of international peacemaking, which convenes the world’s top conflict mediators, high-level decision-makers and peace-process actors to reflect on challenges and opportunities in the field of mediation. Previous participants have included António Guterres, Federica Mogherini, Kofi Annan, Jimmy Carter, Juan Manuel Santos, Fatou Bensouda, Thabo Mbeki and many others.
The opportunity
- Promotion of your credentials as an innovative thinker in the field;
- Exposure on a high-level platform for disseminating your ideas;
- 1,000 Swiss Francs in prize money for the winning essay.
